HARRIET Official Trailer Starring Cynthia Erivo, Janelle Monáe tells the story of Harriet Tubman was an ex slave who fled to freedom and went back and became a abolitionist who freed the slaves in the south after the American Revolution.
In the Opening scene they show you where Harriet escapes from the horrors of slavery and attempts to free herself as a runaway for freedom. Once she gains her freedom, she realizes that she needs to go back and get her family and a dozen other slaves ready to be freed, Janelle Monae also stars in the film as Marie, a free black woman who aids her by helping train and arm Tubman for the journey ahead. The biopic also weaves in other elements of Tubman’s life, including her work leading an armed unit of the Union Army during the Civil War, and her tragic romance with former husband John Tubman, who married someone else after Tubman initially escaped.
